BEER PACKAGING - JIMMY'S FARM

This is an experiment in beer bottle packaging design for Jimmy's Farm. After visiting the location and seeing their current range of beers, I wanted to look at a simpler, cleaner and more humorous brand, a kind of signature beer bottle. An experiment in branding, packaging and general design.

JIMMY'S FARM
Signature range
I WANTED TO LOOK AT A RANGE OF ALES & BITTERS THAT HAVE A MORE PREMIUM FEEL, BRINGING A THEME OUT BY TAKING AWAY ALL THE USUAL MESS, AND BUILDING IN CLEAN, MATT FINISHES, TRADITIONAL BOTTLE DESIGN WITH SOME LIGHT HUMOUR (SMART BUT NOT TAKE ITSELF TOO SERIOUSLY) - IT WAS MOSTLY JUST GETTING IT OFF MY CHEST.

FOR ME IT NEEDED TO BE SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE WOULD HOPEFULLY WANT TO PICK UP BECAUSE IT IS SIMPLE AND CLEAR, STRIPPING AWAY ALL THE MESS AND LEAVING SOMETHING THAT FEELS AUTHENTIC, HONEST AND REAL, BUT WITH A SENSE OF CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE AND SOPHISTICATION.

I FEEL THE RESULT ALLOWS JIMMY TO OWN A VISUAL STYLE, COLOUR, BOTTLE DESIGN, CONCEPT AND TONE OF VOICE.

ALSO, AS A SIMPLE BRAND, IT ALLOWS IT TO STRETCH ACROSS OTHER CATEGORIES, SUCH AS T-SHIRT RANGES, CUPS AND MUGS, APRONS, POSTERS ETC. OF COURSE, THESE RANGES NEED TO BE SUPPORTERS AND ADVOCATORS OF THE BRAND (ALE), OTHERWISE THEY RUN THE RISK OF CONFUSING THE CONSUMER, AND INEVITABLY LOOSING THE EQUITY IN THE BEER BRAND ITSELF.

OTHER AREAS OF THOUGHT HAVE BEEN PLACED AROUND THE FACT THAT MEN ARE BY FAR THE BIGGEST DRINKERS OF BEERS, AND THEREFORE I WANTED THE ALE TO LOOK MASCULINE AND COOL, SOMETHING THAT LOOKS GOOD IN YOUR HAND, PLUS, THERE IS A CURRENT TREND FOR LOCAL BREWERIES, AND HAVING A MORE CONSIDERED AND STYLED DESIGN CAN BE A SIGN OF THIS.
